OnePlus 10, Nord 20 5G and Nord 2 x Pacman. Why should you care?
Updated: Nov 17, 2021
OnePlus has been in news since last year and it all started when co-founder and CEO Pete Lau announced taking a position in Oplus a company that was holding operations for OnePlus and Oppo in the global market. Later, co-founder Carl Pei announced his departure from OnePlus and announced his new venture 'Nothing'.
This was not all as with time OPlus seemed to have disappeared and OnePlus gave several announcements about the merger of OnePlus in Oppo and the effects of the merger are visible in the products which were recently launched by the company as the budget Nord devices are exact copy of Oppo's budget devices and the biggest shock came with the integration of Oxygen OS with Oppo's Color OS. The company announced that with the major launch event next summer they will introduce a new unified OS which will have smoothness of Oxygen OS and feature rich experience of Color OS.
Now, we have renders of OnePlus 10 series leaked and the design looks sturdy and promising, no doubt that the OnePlus 10 series will have best in class specs just like the previous number series devices but this time we will not see the Oxygen OS and other reports suggest that the devices are following Oppo's strategy which means we can expect a price hike and similarity with Oppo's Find X series device.
Now, moving ahead we also have leaked renders of OnePlus Nord 20 5G which is a successor to Nord 10 5G device launched last year. The device is having a unique approach in design while taking few tips from iPhone 12 and 13 series. The device is speculated to have a Snapdragon 695 chipset and for general consumers just understand it as an upgrade to previous generation device. Sadly we do not see the classic alert slider on the device.
If we talk about India, the company is not doing well in sales and inspite of such performance they decided not to launch OnePlus 9RT, instead we got a special Pacman variant of OnePlus Nord 2 5G and that is not a intelligent decision as OnePlus Nord 2 5G has seen multiple cases of burning and bursting. Company is yet to take any accountability, further the head of OnePlus India has also left the company making it worse for the Indian consumers as now the entire operations are controlled from China, this means no India specific upgrades can be seen.
All we can do is not wait and watch the future of OnePlus and the true OnePlus fans should wait for Nothing Phone (1) which is speculated to launch in Q1 2022 and considering that Carl Pei and previous head of marketing of OnePlus are working together in Nothing we can expect the true spirit of OnePlus in Nothing.
